I know what you're thinking if you're reading this: Why should I bother to read yet another arts-related blog? I really can't answer that. I'd just like to believe there's enough cyberspace for all of us. I will be discussing obscure films, music, celebrities, new media, art work, film festival hits, and ever in that order! Basically, anything that strikes my fancy will appear. Not too worry, I'm not too eloquent, nor am I pretentious enough to believe I should write entire dissertations about every single film/album/whatever I'm writing about. I just want to offer a (reasonably) unique perspective in this post-apocalyptic society of ours' (haven't you heard that May 21st, 2011 is supposed to be the End of Days? Yes, that's why we're all still alive and reading this now!) If the apocalypse was then, then the hard part's over and the rest should be...something completely different!
Here are some songs I wouldn't mind ending the world with (no, I'm not referencing the REM song again):
"The Words That Maketh Murder" by PJ Harvey. The Words That Maketh Murder
PJ Harvey - The Words That Maketh Murder by VagrantRecords
This song is basically an end of the world hoedown! Complete with insinuating saxa-mo-phones, quotes from other songs, and a rather odd repeated use of the word "meat" without sounding diminishing. In other words, a typical Wednesday morning for Polly Jean.
Holyhell by Armageddon

If not just b/c of its use of a female singer for a pretty good deathmetal song. Good lyrics, too.
When Two Worlds Collide by Iron Maiden When Two Worlds Collide
B/c it wouldn't be the end of the world without some cheesey 80s metal.
You And Me And Rainbows by The Tear Garden You And Me And Rainbows
End of the World by Aphrodite's Child End of the World

Epic. Just epic. How could you resist a Skinny Puppy side project somewhere in there?
Pretty obvious, I know....But when the world is ending, one can never be too nostalgic.
End of the World by Aphrodite's Child End of the World
Classic rock. Classic, period.

I know she has a song called "Till the End of the World," Till The World Ends but I can't imagine her releasing anything more apocalyptic than this.
and, of course, the most reviled and suicide inducing of all: Friday
Too Bad the world's supposed to end on a Saturday. Oh, well.
By sheer coincidence (or is it), the Phoenix fear Fest is scheduled on the day of the apocalypse. I ight report back from it....but don't count on it...with all of us being raptured and judged and all...
